The door prizes were a 1945 Portugal 2.5 Escudos, a 1937 Panama Centesimo, and a silver Akce from Turkey. The raffle prize was a James Madison Commemorative silver dollar.

Ken Swab performed the auctioneering duties.

Thanks to Mary Robertson for providing a delicious and abundant selection of refreshments.

Auction Results Available On-Line
The results for 2022 and 2023 MCCC auctions are available on the club’s website. The databases are fully searchable.

In addition to auction results, the website has the rules for submitting items for inclusion in the club’s monthly auctions.

Trivia
In 1932, Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon chose John Flanagan’s portrait of George Washington for the obverse of the new quarters over the alternate design sculpted by Laura Garden Fraser. However, Fraser’s portrait of Washington was eventually used as well. On what coin(s) does it appear? (The answer will be revealed at the meeting.)

The trivia question for September was: Aside from the infamous 1913, what is the key date Liberty Head or “V” Nickel? (Answer: 1885.)

2023 Dues
Memberships expire at the end of the year. Dues for 2023 are still $8, the lowest coin club dues you will find virtually anywhere. Please pay your dues to our Treasurer, Simcha Kuritzky, either in person at a meeting, via check to MCCC, P.O. Box 13504, Silver Spring, MD 20911, or via PayPal (family and friends option, please) at montgomerycoin@gmail.com.
