MCCC holds auctions at its meetings, with about 40 lots per auction. The December auction, usually with twice as many lots, is the club’s annual Donated Auction, in which members donate items for sale. All the proceeds from the Donated Auction are presented to a local not-for-profit serving Montgomery County. Past recipients of the club’s generosity have included the Montgomery County Humane Society, Manna Food Center, and the Potomac District of the Boy Scouts of America.

Anyone in attendance at a meeting may bid on lots. There are no buyers’ fees. Payment is due at the end of the auction.

Only members may submit items for sale. There is a 5 percent seller commission, with a minimum of 25 cents and a maximum of four dollars per lot. Sellers may set a minimum bid, and if a lot does not sell, a commission equal to the minimum will be charged. Lots generally appear in the next month’s auction, subject to the discretion of the Auction Chairman. Lots should be submitted to the Auction Chairman, who has the right to review the lot description for accuracy and may limit the number of lots submitted by any member for any given auction.
