Next Meeting: Tuesday, November 14, 2023
The Montgomery County Coin Club will meet Tuesday, November 14, 2023, (tomorrow) at 7 p.m. at the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center, 1000 Forest Glen Road, Silver Spring.
The MCCC November program is a presentation titled “The Origins of the Seated Liberty Coinage” which traces the Seated Liberty design concepts and influences back through the British Empire to the ancient Roman classical coinage.
October Program – Top Rated Ebay Seller Designation
The October MCCC meeting program was a Power-Point presentation and discussion from president Jack Schadegg on the pros and cons of maintaining a “top-rated” seller rating while running an eBay store. He related his personal experience as a seller, including how he earned the top-rated designation and what caused him to temporarily lose it.
The door prizes were an Israel 1969 1 pound coin, a 1959 silver South Africa 3 pence, and a Spain provisional government copper piece. The raffle prize was a 200th Anniversary of the Constitution commemorative silver dollar.
Ken Swab and Chuck Hess shared the auctioneering duties.
Thanks to Mary Robertson for providing a delicious and abundant selection of refreshments.

Trivia
What was the first appearance of a child on United States currency? (The answer will be revealed at the meeting.)
The trivia question for October was: In 1932, Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon chose John Flanagan’s portrait of George Washington for the obverse of the new quarters over the alternate design sculpted by Laura Garden Fraser. However, Fraser’s portrait of Washington was eventually used as well. On what coin(s) does it appear? (Answer: The American Women Quarter Series, 2022-2025)
