Next Meeting: Tuesday, March 12, 2024
The Montgomery County Coin Club will meet Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 7 p.m. at the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center, 1000 Forest Glen Road, Silver Spring.

The MCCC March program will consist of a trivia game on 20th century minor circulating coinage (cents, nickels, dimes, quarters, and halves). 10 questions will be tabled. The game moderator will ask each question and acknowledge the first raised hand for a correct answer. An incomplete or incorrect answer will allow another attendee to tender an answer. At the end of the questions, those recorded as having given the correct response will draw a number corresponding to a silver numismatic reward.

February Program – Extended Auction

Treasurer Simcha Kuritzky reported that 2023 was a good year for the club financially. We earned $550 from auction commissions and $325 from raffle entries.

Ken Swab reported that the Maryland State Numismatic Association (of which MCCC is a member) will be putting on a display of its extensive banknote collection at the Baltimore Whitman Coin Expo.

The February meeting featured a 50-item auction to work through the backlog of submitted items.

The door prizes were a 1953 Sweden 10 Ore, a Washington DC silver 51st state fantasy coin, and a Latvia 2009 1 Lats. The raffle prize was a 1983 Olympics commemorative silver dollar.

Ken Swab and John Pylypec shared the auctioneering duties.

Thanks to Mary Robertson for providing a delicious and abundant selection of refreshments.
