The Montgomery County Coin Club will meet Tuesday, February 11th, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center, 1000 Forest Glen Road, Silver Spring. [The meeting was canceled due to inclement weather.]
Program – Brewery Tokens
For our February meeting, Ken Swab will give a talk and PowerPoint presentation on Civil War (and other eras) Brewery tokens.
January Program – Coin Grading Part 2
For our January meeting, Erik Douglas continued the discussion on coin grading, with additional raw coins and graded coins as educational examples.
The door prizes were a Sweden silver 25 ore, and 1957 10 ore, and a Japan 1 won from the 1860s. The raffle prize was a silver commemorative dollar.
January Member Displays
- Simcha Kuritzky: A Philippines banknote depicting a bengal cat, a Goldback note depicting a Florida panther, and a Barbados Jaguar on a colored background.
- Andrew Luck: The 2024 American silver eagle with the star privy mark, the first silver eagle with such a privy mark.
- Mike Milo: A 2023 Lincoln cent with the scarce “VDBV” variety found coin roll hunting.
- Steve Ferguson: A pickup at the January FUN show – an Intaglio printed card of the Florida United Numismatists.
- Jerry Grzenda: Several inauguration items: A medal honoring the 2nd inauguration of Dwight Eisenhower from 1957, which also happens to have serial number 1, a series of law enforcement badges, a Franklin Mint issued Jimmy Carter bronze medal and silver dish, and lastly a set of Clinton-Gore inauguration medals.

United States Mint Coins
Treasurer Simcha Kuritzky will have the 2025 Native American dollars as well as the 2025 Ida B Wells quarters. He will also have a variety of other United States Mint coins for sale, including American Women quarters for face value, 2018-24 halves for 80 cents each or $15/roll, and Innovation and Native American dollars for $1.25 each or $30/roll.
Library Book Sale
MCCC continues to sell its library books, giving club members first chance to buy them at discounted prices before they are offered to the public online. You can view the entire library holdings here, and if you see any you are interested in, send an email to the club at mococoinclub@gmail.com.
Auction Results Available On-Line
The results for MCCC auctions going back to 2022 are available on the club’s website. The databases are fully searchable.
In addition to auction results, the website has the rules for submitting items for inclusion in the club’s monthly auctions.
