“Building Tomorrows: Inspiration and Innovation at World’s Fairs” was the American Numismatic Association’s 2015 theme for exhibits and activities to celebrate past world’s fairs and expositions—events remembered as the places where some of humankind’s most important achievements in science, architecture and social progress were put on display. The 2015 National Coin Week theme, which was suggested by ANA member Esther Leising, coincided with the 100th anniversary of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco.
MCCC Secretary Jack Schadegg will talk to a photo-slide presentation of the related exhibit fielded by MCCC earlier this year. The presentation covers the major events of the first era of World’s Fairs (1850–1938), which was based largely on industrialization, and the second era (1939–1987), which was based on culture exchange.
Doors will open at 7:00 PM and the meeting will start at 7:15 PM SHARP
