The art of counterfeiting money is as old as money itself. Although there were many attempts at trying to stop counterfeiting, real innovation started with Benjamin Franklin devising a special printing method that took over 200 years to counterfeit. Today, coins are a target causing the mints in Canada and the United Kingdom to investigate ways to prevent counterfeiting of coins. This month’s presentation by MCCC President Scott Barman will outline the history of anti-counterfeiting methods used on coins and currency.
Doors will open at 7:00 PM and the meeting will start at 7:15 PM SHARP.
